Sr. Maria Francesca, O.P., Principal, St. Pius V School

On Monday, August 27th, teachers and faculty from Our Lady of Mercy School spent the day at Saint Edmund Retreat Center on Enders Island in Mystic, CT for a back to school retreat and day of recollection. Nashville Dominican Sister Maria Francesca, O.P., principal of St. Pius V School in Providence, RI, led the retreat. Sr. Maria spoke about the importance of Catholic identity and to seek the help of the Holy Spirit, particularly in the seven gifts which he bestows on us. These gifts are often overlooked but are essential to an animated spiritual life. They are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Mixed in with her presentation were her own personal anecdotes and experiences as a teacher and principal of a Catholic school.

The location and facilities of the retreat center were fantastic. Fortunately the weather was good as well. The teachers enjoyed their time there and came away prepared for another year at OLM School! We continue to pray for our faculty at OLM School that this school year might be filled with many graces and blessings!
